Multiple reports say Team Canada will be without captain Kirby Dach for the entire duration of the World Junior Hockey Championships.

Dach appeared to injure his wrist in a 1-0 pre-tournament win over Russia on Wednesday, after an awkward collision Dach immediately skated to the Canadian bench and went down the tunnel to the dressing room.

With the NHL season getting underway January 13th, Dach is also expected to miss the start of the Chicago Blackhawks season.

Canada opens the tournament Boxing Day (Saturday) against Germany.

Canada is not permitted to replace Dach’s spot on the roster once they entered the Edmonton bubble.
