Sask clubroot map released

The Saskatchewan agriculture ministry says 24 more fields in this province have been found with the clubroot pathogen, which can devastate canola fields.

Visible clubroot symptoms have been confirmed in 75 commercial fields since 2017.

These results are compiled each year by survey and samples.

Last year, 231 soil samples were submitted from across the province with 11 positive results.

A clubroot management strategy includes the use of clubroot resistant canola varieties in a minimum 3 year crop rotation.

An extended crop rotation helps minimize yield losses while protecting the effectiveness of resistant canola varieties.

Over 966 fields were examined during the 2020 clubroot monitoring program.

The clubroot map shows affected areas west of Swift Current, north of Yorkton, south and west of Saskatoon and Prince Albert and east of Lloydminster.
