Regina Airport Authority President and CEO James Bogusz says air traffic controllers in the Queen City have received concerning news recently.
Bogusz learned from the union that represents the workers that notices were sent by Nav Canada that he believes clearly state they intend to close the air traffic control tower and convert it to a flight service station.
Bogusz says he has consulted with other airport CEOs across the country who have their towers under review too.
“We’re going to be taking a unified voice to the Minister of Transport, and requesting that his office steps in, stops this process, and takes Regina’s control tower off the list, along with my colleagues across Canada,” said Bogusz.
He mentioned that Nav Canada cannot do anything to close Regina’s control tower without the transportation minister’s approval.
