Law firm relieves Regina councillor of his duties

The Regina city councillor, who drew the anger of many including Premier Scott Moe after a controversial motion regarding the oil and gas industry, says he is no longer a member of the law firm he was at.

Daniel Leblanc, who represents those in Ward 6, says he was let go by Gerrand Rath Johnson on January 29 and that he is the midst of starting his own law firm.  That release has been confirmed by Gerrand Rath Johnson but reasons for the dismissal are not being given citing confidentiality.

Regina councillor Daniel LeBlanc said, in a Facebook post, he was fired from Gerrand Rath Johnson LLP.

The motion, which would have restricted the city from accepting applications from a group whose business was principally derived from the sale or production of fossil fuels when it comes to advertising, sponsorships and naming rights, was withdrawn after many groups opposed with many negative comments being thrown Leblanc’s way.
