Mayor of Melville reacts to renewal of current COVID-19 health measures

With the Saskatchewan Government extending current health measures to March 19, it raises the question of how this will effect the chances of an SJHL season resuming.

The Melville Millionaires Junior A Hockey Club has until next Monday to submit a plan to Melville city council as to how they will utilize the Horizon Credit Union Centre should the season come back. If the Mills submit a plan before the deadline, city council would review it during their March 1 meeting.

Also happening during Tuesday night’s council meeting, Mayor Walter Streelasky reacted to the provincial government extending the public health order to March 19. He said the current measures are bringing COVID-19 case numbers down, which is good, and hopes we can keep COVID-19 and its variants at bay by adhering to the guidelines.

“I think our citizens are respecting these restrictions with the hope that the outcome will be in our favour,” said Streeslasky.
