Sherry Anderson and her Saskatchewan rink will go into Day 2 of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary with a record of 1-1, but she knows she should go in sitting at 2-0.
In her opening game Saturday morning, Anderson had a 5-2 lead over Prince Edward Island’s Suzanne Birt, but Birt fought back to tie the game at 6 going into the 10th end.
In that 10th end, Anderson was counting one and just had to remove a Birt shot at the top of the four foot, but the shot jammed onto another Birt stone leaving Prince Edward Island with a steal of one and a 7-6 victory.
In the evening draw. Anderson scored four in the fourth to break the game open as she went to win 9-3 over Nunavut’s Lori Eddy in a game that went just eight ends.
Anderson gets Sunday off before getting back onto the ice at the Markin McPhail Centre Monday afternoon against Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones.
