Nearly 100 COVID-19 cases connected to outbreak at Yorkton Regional Health Centre

Some light at the end of the tunnel for everyone at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, the site of a COVID-19 outbreak.

To date, 99 total cases have been linked to the hospital, including 14 patients, 45 secondary cases, 34 healthcare staff and 6 visitors. Currently, there are 3 patients with COVID-19, including one receiving intensive care.

This is a small increase from 97 cases reported on Feb. 12.

Janna-Lea Yawney, the Interim Director of Acute Care for the Yorkton area, says the outbreak in the Intensive Care Unit that was first declared January 17 was lifted on Feb. 13.

“We were very excited,” Yawney said of learning the ICU outbreak was officially declared over.

The remaining outbreak is in the 1st East and West medical units; the area has been listed as a declared outbreak since Jan. 19.
