Body found in South Saskatchewan River

Saskatoon Police are reporting the discovery of a body in the South Saskatchewan River.

On Friday just before midnight, police say they received a call regarding a possible body in the river near the train bridge.

The Saskatoon Fire Department was called in to assist and were able to retrieve the body from the river. Police say life saving measures were attempted but were ultimately unsuccessful. An unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the investigation is ongoing with further updates expected when they become available.
