Surprise end to Regina murder trial

A murder trial in Regina came to an unexpected conclusion Wednesday when the accused decided to plead guilty on a lesser charge of manslaughter.

29-year-old Adam Taniskishayinew was facing a charge of second-degree murder in the June 2019 death of 30-year-old Denny Troy Jimmy.  He was shot while in his vehicle on 5th Avenue East between Lindsay and McDonald Streets.

The plea came after 2 1/2 days of testimony.

A joint submission for sentencing is expected March 10.
