Plans in motion to replace WInnipeg Street bridge over Ring Road

Plans to replace the Winnipeg Street Bridge over the Ring Road have started as the City has recently posted a tender for work on replacing the structure which was first built in 1975.

The new overpass will go straight across the Ring Road so that Winnipeg Street is one continuous roadway and does not veer off onto 9th Avenue North as it does now.

Cost of the 28.8 million dollar project will be shared by the federal, provincial and municipal government wtih the city setting aside over half of the cost in the next budget.

If all goes well, the project will be completed by November of next year.

The City says 12,000 vehicles a day cross the overpass.
