Sask farmers express disappointment with Supreme Court decision upholding federal carbon tax

APAS president Todd Lewis is disappointed with the Supreme court decision to uphold the federal carbon tax.

Lewis says the tax puts an unfair burden on food producers who cannot pass on their higher costs.

Lewis says the carbon tax will cost Saskatchewan farmers hundreds of millions of dollars when it reaches 170 dollars a ton by 2030.

He says APAS will continue to press for federal carbon offset supports for farmers.

Other farm leaders have also expressed disappointment with the Supreme Court decision.
