The Regina Pats exploded for nine goals in a 9-4 victory over Swift Current Monday night.

Connor Bedard led the way with four points, while Zach Smith and Carter Chorney both had three point nights, Easton Armstrong also scored his first career WHL goal.

Pats Coach Dave Struch, said a strong finish was key for them.

“Well for the third period we talked about coming out and playing with a lead and doing things the right way,” Struch said. “Whether it be chipping in pucks with the lead and what not, but really it was a good game by all,” he added.

Smith meanwhile said after the game it’s one of those situations where you hope to carry momentum over into the next game.

“It’s awesome for the boys to get that win and get some momentum heading into tomorrow, we’ve obviously had a tough start to the year and getting into the win column, so a win like this feels really good,” Smith said on the 620 CKRM postgame show.

The win improves the Pats to 3-4-2-0 on the season, they’ll be right back at it Tuesday night with a game against Moose Jaw (4-5-0-0).
