Riders QB James Franklin retires

The Riders have lost the player that had been pencilled in to be their backup quarterback.

James Franklin has announced his retirement.

He joined the Riders as a free agent in 2020 after spending two years in Toronto. Before that, he spent three seasons in Edmonton.

In his five years, he threw for just over 4300 yards with 23 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

Receiver Rashad Greene also announced he is retiring.

Greene, who was one of the top receivers in US College Football in 2013, was a 5th round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2015 NFL draft. He played in 25 games for the team

During his time at Florida State University, Greene had 270 catches for 3830 yards and 29 touchdowns making him the school’s all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards.
