Regina-based Protein Industries Canada has released a new report pointing to a huge potential to expand exports of Saskatchewan-grown food products.
The CEO of Protein Industries Canada, Bill Gruel, says the plant-based food, feed and ingredients market will surpass $250-billion within 15 years.
For Canada, he believes this country can capture an additional $25-billion in annual sales.
Gruel says the growth will be largely driven by increased demand for plant-based meat and dairy alternatives.
He sees a specific large growth market for yellow peas.
