It is a first for Saskatchewan country music.

Weyburn’s Tenille Arts has hit number one on the US country charts with her song “Somebody Like That”.

It ends a month that saw her win four times at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards along with being nominated for an Academy of Country Music award.

Arts is the first Canadian to hit the number one spot south of the border since Emerson Drive in 2007 and “Somebody Like That” is a song that will go down in history as it is the first number one song on country radio written, produced and sung by a female.
