Zack Smith recorded his first career WHL hattrick, but it wasn’t enough as the Regina Pats fell 6-4 to the Winnipeg Ice Tuesday night, to wrap up their 24 game hub season at the Brandt Centre.
Carter Massier scored the other goal for the Pats, who finish the year (9-12-2-1).
Then end of the season also marks the end of junior hockey for Pats 20-year-old’s Roddy Ross, Carson Denomie and Kyle Walker.
Two more games will be played Wednesday before the lights go out at the Brandt Centre.
Saskatoon takes on Brandon at 4:00 p.m., then it’s Swift Current and Prince Albert at 8:00 p.m..
Tuesday night’s game was also the end of an era in the broadcast booth, as Phil Andrews signed off one last time after a decade of calling Pats hockey on 620 CKRM.
👋 😢 We're not crying, you're crying!
One final call for @Phil_Andrews_, as he steps away from the 🎙 after 10 outstanding years as the voice of the Pats on @620ckrm.
📻 Catch the action at 6 p.m. vs. @WHLWpgICE
It's been a thrill, Phil! pic.twitter.com/KoR0j5nOKT
