Risk of wildfires in Southern Sask. high due to dry conditions

The Public Safety Agency of Saskatchewan says the wildfire risk is high across the southern part of the province.

Vice president of Operations, Steve Roberts, says the agency has launched a publicity campaign to warn residents of the dangers of accidentally starting prairie wildfires.

He urges the public to be careful because of very dry conditions.

Roberts says there have been 80 wildfires so far this year, slightly above the normal number for this time of year.

He says most of the fires are due to human activity and warns caution when burning out of doors this spring.
