CN Rail sets new April grain movement record

CN Rail says it set a new record for Canadian grain movement for the 14th consecutive month.

The director of sales and marketing, David Przednowek says last month’s movement was 80,000 metric ton higher than April 2020, the previous record.

He says 2.9 million tons of grain were moved to market last month, exceeding last year’s April record of 2.82 million tons.

So far this crop year, Shednovik says CN has shipped over 25.6 million tons of grain to market.

He says that is 17 percent higher than the previous record pace of 21.9 million tons set two years ago.

CN says the record grain movement is largely due to railway investments over the past few years to improve track and equipment supply.
