The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is calling on governments “to begin immediate research” on undocumented deaths and burials at Saskatchewan residential schools

The statement comes a day after a First Nation in British Columbia confirmed discovery of the remains of 215 children buried in unmarked graves on the site of a former residential school in Kamloops.

In a release, Chief Bobby Cameron says this is a national tragedy and that there are hundreds of children in Saskatchewan that also did not return home from residential schools across the province. He is calling for collaborative work to be done to begin immediate research on undocumented deaths and burials and bring home the hundreds of missing children unaccounted for.
