Seeding is nearing completion across Saskatchewan.
Provincial crops extension specialist Matt Struthers says 97 percent of seeding is complete, up from 86 percent last week and ahead of the 5 year average of 92 percent.
Seeding ranges from 98 percent in the southeast, west-central, northeast and northwest, to 94 percent in east-central Saskatchewan.
There were some small amounts of rain during the past week.
Kindersley in west central Saskatchewan had 20 millimeters, Earl Grey 12 millimeters and Rhein received 10 millimeters.
The crop report says the rain was welcome but more will be needed soon.
Cropland topsoil moisture is rated 72 percent adequate, 20 percent short and 8 percent very short.
The majority of crops are rated in good condition.
Canola and mustard are rated fair to good, mainly due to reduced germination caused by winds, lack of moisture and flea beetle pressure.
Most crop damage this week was due to strong dry winds, dry soil conditions, flea beetles and gophers.
