The Riders have signed their first-round pick from this year’s draft.
The Riders signed former Huskies defensive back Nelson Lokombo to his rookie contract on Friday. Lokombo with the second-overall pick in May’s draft.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defensive back was the best defensive player in USports in 2019, winning the President’s Trophy.
Lokombo is expected to compete for a starting spot in the defensive backfield. Riders GM Jeremy O’Day has said the team has the potential to play a Canadian at field corner. Lokombo would be in the mix along with veterans Elie Bouka and Godfrey Onyeka.
