Sask. Federation of Labour calls minimum wage increase ’embarrassing’

The Saskatchewan Federation of Labour is not happy about the province’s minimum wage increase from 11.45 to 11.81 set for this October.

SFL President Lori Johb says the small increase is an insult to frontline workers.

“It’s embarrassing, I think, after all these months of praising frontline workers that have been out there in front of this pandemic every step of the way,” said Johb. “We know for a fact that they are completely unrecognized.”

Johb added that anything less than 15 dollars an hour is unacceptable from the Saskatchewan government.

Currently, Saskatchewan has the lowest minimum wage in the country.
