Do we get a CFL season? Board of Governors to give yay or nay on Monday

The CFL’s Board of Governors meet via teleconference on Monday.

The group will be discussing a 2021 season that would be 16 weeks in length stretching from August 5 to the December 12 Grey Cup in Hamilton with teams playing a shortened 14-game season.  While the board is likely to approve this, whether or not the vote is unanimous is not known.

One thing that could also happen is creating a playoff scenario that would eliminate the traditional East/West division with one single nine team division that sees eight team making the playoffs.

This would mean the playoffs would see six games instead of the usual four before the Grey Cup is played.

If approved, a seven-day home quarantine would start for all players June 25 with training camps opening as early as July 10.

There would be no exhibition games.

It is believed if the board does give its OK for a 14-game season that a schedule will be made public before Monday is over.
