O’Day elated to have football to think about

Now that the CFL season is a go, the Saskatchewan Roughriders need to dust off the playbooks, clean the whistles and start getting ready for training camp which isn’t that far away.

Riders GM Jeremy O’Day says with camp set to begin in Regina on July 10, they have to make travel arrangements and decisions.

Only 100 players will be able to attend camp and the Riders are well over that number meaning some moves will have to be made.  O’Day let it be known there are some who won’t be back because they are retiring having moved on from the game after being unable to play in so long.

“With what’s gone on this past year and a half, we definitely expect that to be the case.” O’Day said.  We’ll have some players who choose to move on from football before training camp, but all you can do is just be kind of prepared for that,” O’Day said.

O’Day touched upon several topics with one of them being working on staging a controlled practice or scrimmage with another team, likely the Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
