Regina Police say remains discovered last December in a rural part of the province belong to Patrick Cyril Thauberger, who disappeared in 1997.
His brother, 78-year-old Joseph George Thauberger has been charged with first degree murder, committing an indignity to a human body, and uttering threats.
Joseph Thauberger told a media outlet in Edmonton in 2006, that he’d dropped Patrick off at the Regina bus depot in September of 1997.
A police investigation was launched in the fall of 1997 after Thauberger went missing, but the file eventually ended up with the Regina Police cold case unit, with no new developments for 23 years until the charges were announced last fall.
