Major fertilizer plant to be built near Saskatoon

A major fertilizer plant will be built near Saskatoon, starting next month.

Northern Nutrients of Saskatoon has announced construction of a new sulphur enhanced urea fertilizer facility near the city.

Co-owner Ross Guenther says the facility will have 56,000 ton capacity and is being built to meet growing demand.

He points out many of the raw materials for the fertilizer plant are available locally in Saskatchewan.

Construction will begin next month with completion set for early 2022. The cost of the plant is expected to be $25 million.
