Sask Farm Stress Line fields 20 percent more calls this summer

Drought and the pandemic have resulted in a 20 percent jump in calls to the Farm Stress Line in Saskatchewan this summer.

Mobile Crisis Services operates the farm stress line and acting Executive director Jan Thorson says COVID-19 has brought many issues to the forefront for people.

She says hot dry weather has also led to rising farm stress.

Thorson says farm issues include anxiety, alcohol and family disputes.

Thorson says it is important for those with mental health concerns to talk to someone about their concerns and issues.

The farm stress line is open round the clock.
