On Wednesday morning, just before 10:00 am, Regina Police responded to a report of a weapons offence on the 600 block of Albert Street.
It was reported a man entered the store of a gas bar, revealed a firearm to a staff member, then left.
The K-9 Unit located the suspect hiding in the backyard of a residence on the 400 block of Smith Street, which resulted in the man being bit.
The man was then arrested by police, and a search of a man revealed firearm ammunition, but a firearm was not recovered. He was then transported to hospital with minor injuries.
As a result, 22-year-old Troy Cardinal has been charged with assault with a weapon, use of imitation firearm during the commission of an indictable offence, and failure to comply with conditions of a release order.
He made his first appearance on Thursday morning.
