Roughriders ready for the new faces on Tiger-Cats depth chart

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are getting ready to host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a game you can hear Saturday night on 620 CKRM.

The last time these two teams played, a last-minute touchdown dive propelled Quarterback Cody Fajardo and the Riders to a 24-19 win at Mosaic Stadium.

Fajardo says any time he sees Hamilton on the schedule, he knows it will be a good game.

“We know we’re going to have to bring it,” Fajardo said. “I know that they have a really good coaching staff, really good players, and it’s going to be a dog fight. I think it’s going to be a four-quarter battle and that we’re going to have to find a way to scratch, claw, anyway we can to just give ourselves an opportunity to be in it in the fourth quarter.

“It’s going to be a great game,” Fajardo added.

The Ti-Cats feature two receivers on their depth chart Saturday who have not yet played a game in the CFL as Devier Posey and Bralon Addison continue to miss time with leg injuries.

Riders Safety Mike Edem says when he sees two new receivers on the depth chart, he starts researching what they can do.

“I look just to get a little bit of a feel of who they are in terms of abilities and stuff like that,” Edem said. “Then you got to input them into the schematic side of things and see how Tommy (Condell, Hamilton Offensive Coordinator) is going to utilize them and then go from there.”

Head Coach Craig Dickenson says he sees the new faces at receiver as Hamilton trying to find a solution for their injury problems.

“I know they both have some return-ability, so we could see something in the return game that’s maybe a little bit different,” Dickenson said. “Maybe they want to change up some packages, and maybe they’ve got something going on that way, but I think it means more than anything that they weren’t happy with that group the first game out, and they’re going to try to shake things up and see if they can’t find a different combination.”

However, the Tiger-Cats will see the return of Ted Laurent on the defensive line and Chris Van Zeyl on the offensive line this week.

620 CKRM’s coverage of Saturday night’s contest will begin at 5:00 PM with the pre-game show. Kick-off is at 8:00 PM.

Those wanting to attend the game are encouraged to visit the Riderville website for ticket pricing and availability.
