Hail claim numbers are down significantly this summer across Saskatchewan.

The CEO of Co-op Hail, Murray Bantle of Regina, says the number of claims in July is down by 38 percent and the number of hail days is down by 25 percent.

However, he says the payout per claim is almost double this year.

He says damage has been severe at times where hail has hit.

Bantle says 2021 is looking like an average to above average year for the cost of hail damage crop claims across Saskatchewan.

However he points out there still is a lot of crop left to harvest.
