Despite drought in the early part of the month, August in Regina goes into the record books as wetter than normal.

Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips says Regina had 105 millimeters of rain last month, up more than double the normal 45 millimeters in August.

Phillips says Regina saw 60 days, from June 12th to August 9th, where there was only a trace of rain, and 23 days above 30 degrees.

Phillips says June through August in Regina saw total rainfall was 16 percent above average.

He says the August rains were too late to help most crops but will benefit pastures and improve soil moisture for next year.
