Avena Foods says its gluten-free oat ingredients have been certified by the Detox Project as Glyphosate residue free.

Glyphosate is a widely used herbicide.

For such designation, products must have no residue down to government-recognized limits of detection for food and supplement samples.

Avena foods is a major oat and pulse processor with facilities in Regina.

The company says there was lots of interest in the companies new line of precooked flours at recent trade shows at Charlotte, North Carolina and Anaheim, California.

Avena Foods is constructing a 20 million dollar oat processing facility just south of Regina at Rowatt.

The new plant will complement the existing Regina operation and double capacity.
