Grain companies are being urged to work with farmers to eliminate administration fees and reduce contract penalties during this years drought.
The request comes from APAS and all 6 of the producer commissions.
APAS president Todd Lewis says grain companies are being asked to consider rolling over contracts to next year and reducing or eliminating penalties for non-delivery.
“I think we just want to ask the grain elevator companies that hold these contracts to look hard at administration fees, and penalty fees, and make sure they’re being as fair as possible to producers.”
The groups say many farmers will be unable to deliver on even modest grain contracts due to widespread drought.
