Federal leaders faceoff in English debate night before advance polls open

With advanced polls opening Friday morning, Canada’s five main federal party leaders faced-off in a fiery English debate Thursday night.

Both Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole, and the NDP’s Jagmeet Singh, went after Justin Trudeau multiple times, for calling an election during a pandemic.

That was surrounding the five topics that were pre-planned to be debated.

Scheduled topics were affordability/inflation, climate change, COVID-19 recovery, leadership and accountability, and Indigenous Peoples reconciliation.

The topics were decided after more than 20,000 responses to a questionnaire that was published on multiple major media websites in the weeks prior.

As mentioned, advanced polls will be open Friday and run until Monday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

Election day is September 20th, every way to vote can be seen on the Elections Canada website.
