Numbers released by Stats Canada show Saskatchewan gained over 10,000 jobs in August, the most in the country.
Saskatchewan’s unemployment rate fell to 7.0 percent from 7.9 percent a year ago, which is below the national average of 7.1 percent.
Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison says the job gains are a positive indicator that the province is leading the country’s economic recovery.
“With over 9,000 jobs posted on saskjobs.ca, employers across the province are looking for workers to fill positions, which shows confidence in our province’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The biggest jump was in the private sector, where there are 18,900 more jobs than last year.
