The community of Pense, 30 kilometers west of Regina, is holding a harvest fundraising event Thursday afternoon.
Pense Memorial Rink Board member Cheyne Ogilvie says harvest will begin on a 40-acre plot of canola as part of the inaugural Oilseeds for Community Needs fundraiser.
She says the land and field operations were provided by Kerry Ogilvie, a local farmer and resident of Pense.
She says all inputs were donated for the crop by various companies.
Ogilvie is hoping to raise $35,000 from the harvest event to go to improvements for the Pense rink.
