Saskatchewan farmers made excellent harvest progress this past week.

The latest crop report from the Saskatchewan ministry of Agriculture says 74 percent of the crop has been combined, up from 56 percent last week and well ahead of the 5 year average of 50 percent.

Harvest ranges from 85 percent in the southwest to 57 percent in the northwest.

Durum is grading 27 percent number one, 34 percent number 2, 28 percent number 3 and 11 percent for 4 and 5 durum.

There was little rain this past week, with Shaunavon and Gull Lake receiving the largest amount at 15 millimeters.

Topsoil moisture continues to deteriorate with cropland rated 36 percent adequate, 38 percent short and 26 percent very short.

The main causes of crop damage this past week was due to hail, wind and dry conditions.

There was frost in one rural municipality in the northwest, with damage depending on the stage of the crop but likely minimal.

There was also reports of crop damage from wildlife and waterfowl.
