Active COVID-19 case count inches closer to record high

Another 492 cases of COVID-19 have been announced in Saskatchewan Saturday via the provincial dashboard.

The new cases come from Saskatoon (127), the north west (85), Regina (47), the south west (32), the south east (32), the north central (30), the far north west (28), the central east (20), the south central (20), the far north east (16), the north east (15), the central west (11), and the far north central (one).

Four more people have died after testing positive for COVID-19. The death toll is now up to 667.

There are 282 people in hospital, including 63 in ICU.

Another 526 people have recovered. The active case count is up slightly to 4,751, which is 12 under the all-time high of active COVID-19 cases set on Dec. 7, 2020, which is 4,763.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 477.

Another 4,184 new tests were processed.

When it comes to vaccines, 5,017 were administered, including 2,897 first doses. There are now 727,357 fully vaccinated residents in Saskatchewan.
