Pats sweep season-opening home-and-home with Raiders

So far, so good!

After a win to start the season Friday in Prince Albert, the Regina Pats won their home opener Saturday afternoon with a country watching on CBC as they beat the Raiders 5-2.

Sloan Stanick had two goals and an assist while Cole Carrier had a goal and two assists.  Other Regina goals came from Connor Bedard and Zach Stringer.

Assistant coach Ken Schneider says his team really had to fight to get this one.

“We had to grind one out after playing Friday night.  It was a tight turnaround after getting home late, but we weren’t at the top end of our game and we found a way to get a win. “Schneider said. “It says a lot about our character though as we had some veteran leadership show itself off.”

The Pats will be in Winnipeg Wednesday to play the Ice.  The next home game is October 10 when the Brandon Wheat Kings visit in a 4 p.m start.
