Officials with Red Leaf Pulp are pleased with farm response to public meetings on the proposed 350 million dollar straw-based pulp mill in Regina.
Meetings were held earlier this month in Milestone, Indian Head and Pense.
The director of fibre procurement, Joe Hinz says he received non-binding letters of intent to supply about 100 thousand tons of wheat and durum straw.
The facility will need 300 thousand tons a year and he is confident farmers will respond.
He says more discussions will be held with farmers.
Construction is set for next year with completion in 2023.
The project would turn waste wheat straw into paper products like tissue and cardboard.
