The province is telling us of 223 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday and five more deaths.  That brings the provincial death total to 832.

The 223 new cases are located in the Far North West (15), Far North East (9), North West (18), North Central (18), North East (3), Saskatoon (54), Central West (1), Central East (23), Regina (35), South West (3), South Central (5), and South East (24) zones and fifteen (15) new cases have pending residence information.  The active case count has dropped again as it now sits at 2,440.  On October 1, the active case count was at 4,770.

There were 2,608 tests performed meaning the positivity rate is just over eight and a half percent.

Almost 28 percent of the new cases announced are in the 0-11 age bracket and out of the 223 cases, 164 are in people who have not been vaccinated.

There are 271 people being treated for the virus in hospital which is the lowest number Saskatchewan has seen since September 22 when there were 265 people and the number of those in the ICU is down 12 from Tuesday’s numbers to sit at 57.  That is also the lowest number of those in the ICU since a total of 54 were announced September 22.  These numbers do not include those who have bseen sent to Ontario.  That number grew to 16 on Wednesday with the announcement of four more patients being transferred. 271 COVID patients were in Saskatchewan hospitals, the fewest since there were 265 on Sept. 22.

2,985 vaccines were put into the arms of Saskatchewan residents yesterday with 952 of them being first doses.
