Regina-based Farm Credit Canada has released a trade report showing strong agriculture exports in 2020.
FCC chief economist, J.P. Gervais, says Canada had the highest year over year increase for farm commodity exports despite the pandemic.
He says world farm commodity exports contracted 9 percent due to the pandemic but Canada showed a 14 percent increase last year.
Gervais says Canada remains the fifth largest exporter of farm commodities, with the U.S. in top spot, followed by Netherlands, China and Brazil.
Gervais says the outlook for Canadian farm exports in 2021 and 2022 remain good due to strong demand but supply chain disruptions remain a concern.
