Riders inch one step closer to home playoff game

It doesn’t matter how you win the game, just win the game.  That is what the Saskatchewan Roughriders are saying after holding on to beat the Edmonton Elks 19-17 on Friday night.

Saskatchewan led the game 16-3 after three quarters, but they had to recover a short kickoff with a minute to go to preserve the victory which improves their record to 8-4.

The only touchdown for the Riders came from Brayden Lenius as he caught a 22 yard pass from Cody Fajardo.

After the game, head coach Craig Dickenson admitted to Derek Taylor that while they got the victory, the performance was not what he was hoping for.

“I told the guys to celebrate the win, but I think we all know we need to play better moving forward.” Dickenson said.

The two teams will meet again on November 13 in the Riders regular-season home finale in a 3 p.m. start.
