The Agtech Accelerator based in Regina has created an international partnership with Innovate U.K.
Economic Development Regina spokesperson Ly Pham says this partnership has benefits for both sides.
“It’s really building opportunities for Saskatchewan companies to be able to have new markets within the U.K.,” Pham said. “Secondly — from the U.K.’s perspective — what it does is it allows five of the top U.K. ag tech companies to be able to come here to Regina, Saskatchewan to participate in our first cohort in 2022.”
Pham says Innovate U.K. reached out to make this deal a reality.
“They understood our competitive advantage as Regina, Saskatchewan within the agriculture space, and within that it makes sense being that the province of Saskatchewan is looking to grow their international presence.”
Pham says they hope this is the start of many partnerships with countries around the globe.
“This definitely plants a seed for us in building our first international partnership, and we will look to continue working really hard to secure additional partnerships, and working closely with our provincial/federal partners to do so.”
This allows the Agtech Accelerator — which is powered by Conexus Cultivator, EDR and Emmertech — to reach their first international partnership, and according to EDR, positions Regina as a world leader in the global food sector.
