The latest Saskatchewan cattle market update says feeder steer prices were lower across the board for all weight categories compared to the previous week.

Prices ranged from 261 dollars 9 cents per hundredweight for the 300 to 400 pound weight category to 174 dollars 30 cents per hundredweight for the over 900 pound category.

Feeder heifers were also mainly lower for the week, with prices ranging from 193 dollars 88 cents per hundredweight for the 300 to 400 pound category to 168 dollars 40 cents for the over 800 pound category.

The cattle market update is prepared by acting provincial cattle specialist Natasha Wilkie.

She says the fall run of cattle is underway and markets are being pushed lower by the volume of animals coming to market.
