Accused in Cst. Patton’s death investigation gets upgraded charge to first degree murder

A first degree murder charge has been issued in the death of Indian Head RCMP Cst. Shelby Patton.

On June 12, the RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called to the scene in Wolseley, where a stolen vehicle was stopped. The stolen vehicle then hit the 26-year-old Cst. Patton, killing the officer before both suspects fled the scene. Eventually, they were found, and charged with manslaughter.

After further investigation, 42-year-old Alphonse Traverse from Winnipeg has been charged with first degree murder, while 43-year-old Marlene Pagee has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

All other previously announced charges will remain before the courts. Traverse appeared in court Friday morning.
