It wasn’t your typical fundraiser, but it was a success.

play 92’s Mark Johnston, and Jessica Frost spent the night in the Victoria Square Shopping Centre to raise money for Regina’s Carmichael Outreach, which was had donation money and staff laptops stolen last weekend.

The morning hosts from our sister station raised $16,850, with donations still open till Tuesday.

Frost said the community support was great to see.

“Right off the hop, we had fries Tallman Lumber and Sthamann Homes. step-up and decide to match up to $5,000 each,” she said. “Carmichael has many great programs, they have been around in Regina for over 30 years, they provide on a daily basis 250 to 300 hot lunches for people in Regina, they help with housing and so much more.”

As for why they camped out in the mall, Johnston said he just thought it would be a cool opportunity and unique way to raise money.
