SaskTel expands rural broadband service

SaskTel has announced 24 communities will receive Infinet service as part of the fourth phase of its 100 million dollar rural firbre optic initiative.

SaskTel intends to begin construction in these communities next year to have the majority of residents and business fibre ready by the end of 2023.

In the southern grainbelt, the Communities include Assiniboia, Caronport, Davidson, Regina Beach, Gravelbourg, Rocanville, Gull Lake, Outlook, Kipling, Oxbow and Wadena.

SaskTel minister Don Morgan says the rural fibre initiative will allow tens of thousands of rural families and businesses to receive advanced fibre optic broadband infrastructure to connect in the modern world.

The 2020 rural fibre initiative is designed to bring improved service to over 60 thousand residents spread across 45 rural communities by the end of 2023.
