Swift Current RCMP has charged one person after a nearly three-year-long investigation.

65-year-old Yantai Gan has been charged with breach of trust by a public officer, fraud over $5,000, and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.

He was arrested back on November 19, 2019, after RCMP Federal Policing conducted a search warrant at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s facility in Swift Current, where Gan was employed at the time.

The search warrant resulted from an extensive investigation led by the RCMP’s National Security Enforcement Section, initiated in February 2018.

A search warrant was also executed this same day at his residence in Swift Current.

He will make his next court appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court on December 13.
