Turkey supplies should be good for Sask. consumers this Christmas

The group Turkey Farmers of Saskatchewan, is not expecting any shortages of birds for consumers this Christmas season.

Turkey farmers co-administrator Cinthya Wiersma says some retailers may find it more challenging to get turkey supplies due to transport issues but there should be no shortages.

She says the province has 11 commercial turkey producers, which produce 6.5 to 6.7 million kilograms per year.

Wiersma anticipates consumers should see turkey prices similar to levels at Thanksgiving, around 2 dollars 50 cents per pound.
